Kyobo Life Insurance Sponsors World-class Scholarship for its Contribution to the Development of the Insurance Industry.
Prof. Ramamurthy Vaidyanathan of the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) was selected as the winner of this year's "APRIA-Kyobo Life Contribution Award," Kyobo Life Insurance said on July 31.
The APRIA-Kyobo Life Contribution Award was established in 2011 by the Asia-Pacific Risk and Insurance Association (APRIA) and Kyobo Life to support scholars who contributed to the development of the insurance industry.
Each year, the award is given to scholars who have performed excellent research in the field of insurance studies, such as risk management and accounting.
APRIA is an international academic organization consisting of about 30 countries and 400 insurance scholars in Asia and the Pacific region, and is one of the world's top three insurance associations along with the ARIA) and the EGRIE.
Prof. Vaidyanathan was credited with his contribution to the development of the early APRIA by serving as president of the society for a year from August 2004.
The award ceremony was held at the annual meeting of the 2019 APRIA. Under the theme of "Risk Society and Sustainable Growth," the annual meeting has been held at Konkuk University and Sejong University in Seoul for four days since July 28 with hundreds of CEOs and insurance scholars from the Asia-Pacific region attending. Yoon Yeol-hyun, president of Kyobo Life Insurance, presented the awards.
