Hyundai Motor Co.'s first hybrid sports utility vehicle (SUV), Kona Hybrid, has been launched. Hyundai Motor announced on Aug. 7 that it will launch the Kona Hybrid model and the 2020 Kona (gasoline, diesel) and start selling them in earnest.
"Kona, which was released in 2017, is receiving worldwide acclaim as it was selected in the 2019 North American Car of the Year utility category after 2018 Spain Car of the Year," said a Hyundai Motor official.
"With the addition of hybrid models, Hyundai Motor's Kona is expected to meet customers' preferences with its compact SUV armed with the most engine lineup in South Korea, ranging from gasoline to diesel, hybrid, and electric cars.
Hyundai Motor has simplified its previous eight trims to three in the 2020 Kona and increased safety and convenience by applying customer preference specifications such as Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist(FCA) ▲Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) ▲Driver Attention Warning (DaW) ▲Rear Parking Distance Warning.
The new Kona Hybrid added to the lineup features 19.3 km/l fuel efficiency ▲ Hyundai Motor's first "car to home" application ▲ advanced infotainment specifications and ▲advanced driver assistance system.
In addition, Kona Hybrid enables a driver in the vehicle to check and control the status of a house in real-time by applying the "car to home" application, a technology that can control the home's IoT (Internet of Things) devices such as lights, air conditioners and boilers.
The 2020 Kona is priced at 19.14 million won to 22.46 million won for gasoline models, 21.05 million won to 24.37 million won for diesel models and 22.7 million won to 26.11 million won for Hybrid models.
