POSCO Engineering & Construction (POSCO E&C) and the Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (KOFICE) conducted "Global Harmony" Korean cultural exchange activities in Batangas, 110 kilometers south of Manila, the capital of the Philippines, from Aug. 5 to 10.

The event was co-hosted by POSCO E&C and KOFICE and sponsored by POSCO 1 % Sharing Foundation and the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines. Thirty-one Happy Builders, the 9th POSCO E&C college student volunteer group which was launched on April 29, and 13 local volunteers participated in the event.

POSCO E&C and KOFICE conducted various Korean culture and arts education programs, including K-pop dance, chorus, taekwondo, drone, traditional culture, and creative science, at Simlong Elementary School in Batangas from Aug. 5 to 8.

Despite the bad weather caused by the typhoon, the students were eager to learn Korean culture such as K-pop dance, chorus, and Taekwondo, which are famous in the world, and made precious memories.

Justin, an elementary school student, said, "The education has given me more interest in Korea. When I become an adult later, I really want to go to Korea and meet Happy Builders again."

"We will actively carry out social contribution activities not only in Korea but also in other countries where the company is operating, and implement the company's management concept of 'corporate citizens who are developing with people,'" said Kim Hak-yong, head of the management support headquarters of POSCO E&C.

Meanwhile, KOFICE President Kim Yong-rak said, "This year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between South Korea and the Philippines. In response, KOFICE is preparing various Korean cultural events in the Philippines in addition to the global harmony project as an agency dedicated to international cultural exchanges."
