Some 30,000 units of Hyundai Motor's All New Mighty (QT), which is at risk of fire due to malfunction of the wind control switch, will be recalled.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) said on Aug. 15 that it will recall 38,117 cars manufactured and imported from Hyundai Motor, FMK, Porsche and Hanbul Motors.

According to the ministry, 32,637 units of Hyundai Motor's QT may catch fire due to a build-up of metal dust in the inner terminals of the wind control switch, malfunction and overheating.

The glancing angle of the 1,383 units, including M1567D25H imported and sold by FMK, have been set higher than safety standards due to manufacturing process errors. As a result, there is a possibility of glare for the driver of the vehicle facing him at night.

In 3,239 units of two models, including Panamera (970) imported and sold by Porsche Korea, it is found that even if a driver changes a speed with a lever, it may not work properly due to a problem with the shift lever.

The warning lights for Peugeot 2008 Allure 1.6 BlueHHDi (ML/G) 858 units imported and sold by Hanbul Motors were not lit in case of the shortage of tire pressure as the threshold value of the tire pressure warning device was set high.

Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor is also the manufacturer that has had the largest number of car recalls in the past five years. According to the ministry’s latest data, Hyundai Motor has the largest number of cars recalled in South Korea over the past five years with 2.73 million units, followed by Kia Motors with 1.11 million units, Renault Samsung Motors with 944,277 units and Chevrolet with 895,697 units.
