Hanwha Systems said on Aug. 28 that it has signed a 30 billion won deal to supply a ship combat system for the performance improvement of three 3,000-ton frigate ships operated by the Philippine shipping.
The ship battle system is an integrated system that generates and shares information on integrated tactical situations by connecting various equipment to a large brain that opposes the ship's brain.
Through this contract, Hanwha Systems will supply electronic warfare equipment and Sona as well as ship combat systems. It will also carry out the integrated test business by linking all arms and sensors, including the 76 mm warship gun installed previously and newly installed 3D navigation radar sensor.
Hanwha Systems won another big deal after its contract with the Philippines Navy in 2017 for a battle system of a new 2,600-ton frigate.
At that time, the Philippine Defense Ministry chose Hanwha Systems’ battle system. For the Philippine Defense Ministry, Hanwha Systems highlighted its system's performance and operability, as well as technical cooperation with local shipbuilders.
"In addition to the performance and operability that met the requirements of the Philippine Defense Ministry, active support from the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, the Agency for Defense Development and the Navy has led to our export of combat systems to overseas markets once again," said Jang Si-kwon, CEO of Hanwha Systems.
