Choi See-Joong, the chairman of the KCC (Korea Communications Commission), recently decided to visit Egypt, the South African Republic, and Angola for the establishment of WiBro and DMB services within these three countries. The visit will begin from June 14th-June 23rd, in which he will travel and visit all three countries while discussing matters related to establishing a network for these services. Through this advancement into the African region, KCC wants to become a growth engine for communications technology in the Africa area while reinforcing their standard on the global level.
However, countries like China and Japan have already established networks in the African region. Also, Korean companies have advanced and established networks in the African region. In 2007, KT successfully established a WiBro network in Rwanda and they are progressing in the establishment of communications infrastructure in Sudan, Algeria and Congo. Meanwhile, ETRI established DMB services in the African region in 2008.
