CJ Olivenetworks made an announcement on Sept. 19 that it has established a blockchain digital copyright system by introducing the Amazon Web Services (AWS)' cloud.
The new blockchain digital copyright system records the history of music usage such as BGM within various broadcasting contents in blockchain.
By using a transparent and unmodifiable method of distributed ledger for mutual verification, stakeholders such as creators, broadcasters and copyright associations can easily share and store data.
CJ Olivenetworks built the system by utilizing AWS' fully managed service Amazon Managed Blockchain that helps create and manage blockchain networks.
In addition, CJ Olivenetworks introduced AWS Elemental MediaConvert service to recognize and extract sound sources from broadcasting contents rather than through a separate server. Through this process, the company can recognize and extract sound sources without separate servers, reducing development and operation costs and shortening related working hours, said an official of the company.
"It is important to have a system that ensures fairness and transparency among copyright stakeholders so that music copyright usage can be monitored and copyrighted," said Kim Eung-do, head of CJ Olivenetworks' DT Convergence Research Institute. "We expect the new blockchain-based copyright management system to greatly contribute to improving the copyright management process."
