Samsung SDS hosted the Cloud Media Day at the Chuncheon data center on Sept. 20 and it introduced the Samsung SDS cloud platform, which allows customers' IT infrastructures as well as business systems to easily switch to and operate to the cloud.

The company entered the cloud business last year and is currently operating around 210,000 virtual servers, including servers, storage and networks. In recognition of its capabilities, it was the only Korean company to be listed as a global top 10 IT infrastructure operation service provider chosen by Gartner.

Samsung SDS suggested three solutions that enable efficient use of various clouds, an easy and convenient development environment and the rapid spread of global services.

First, Samsung SDS introduced the Samsung SDS hybrid cloud platform, which manages private and public clouds at once, easily supports data movement between clouds, and provides fault management through server resource monitoring.

It also introduced Samsung SDS Platform as a Service (PaaS) that enables customers to develop business systems easily and quickly in a cloud environment and distribute applications. By utilizing Samsung SDS PaaS, customers can reduce the time to build a development environment from eight days to one day and the deployment of applications from two weeks to one.

Corporate customers who want to quickly expand their services in global markets can reduce the length of infrastructure deployment, application installation, and application distribution from 11 weeks to three weeks if Samsung SDS Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) method system is applied.

Meanwhile, Samsung SDS introduced its recently opened Software Defined Data Center (SDDC)-based data center in Chuncheon. By applying the SDDC technology, Samsung SDS has integrated and operated server resources in Chuncheon, Sangam and Suwon data centers, enabling rapid resource expansion.
