Hanwha Group Chairman Kim Seung-youn said on Oct. 10, "What we need at this moment is a shift in our ideas and perceptions toward a new era. We have to challenge and innovate with the initial spirit that took the first step in the world."
"Innovative challengers are emerging to destroy the existing industrial ecosystem," Chairman Kim said in a speech marking the 67th anniversary of the group. "The endless challenges to create products, technologies and value that were not in the world will open the future of Hanwha, a company that cannot be replaced by other companies."
"Hanwha's history of challenges in each business sector, starting with the localization of gunpowder 67 years ago, has served as the foundation of the national economy and led to the pride of all," he said. "We need to find new business opportunities, explore markets, secure talent, and enhance synergy between the businesses with the hot dawn spirit of the day."
He said, "The perception of Hanwha's raison d'etre and how it seeks profit should be changed. Consumers, customers and suppliers are not our revenue base, but our survival base," adding, “Based on this management philosophy, we should push forward investment and employment plans for tomorrow without a hitch and join forces in the common prosperity of members of society.”
Kim also reiterated his emphasis on "safety." "There is no reason to lead a project that cannot secure safety despite its high profitability. Safety management is an iron rule that should be kept at the top of all workplaces regardless of the industry."
To mark the 67th anniversary of its foundation, Hanwha Group will conduct large-scale social contribution activities across the country in October.
