SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won urged the group executives and staffs to create social value by combining the group's ICT capabilities.
"New ICT is evolving fast enough that it is difficult to predict and it is practically impossible to have competitive edge independently in this environment," Chairman Chey said in an opening speech of 'SK ICT Tech Summit 2019' held at Walkerhill Hotel in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul on Oct. 28.
He also said that there is a need to create an ecosystem that creates opportunities for cooperation and growth by making the event an infrastructure shared by SK and its outside partners.
"When technology sharing and cooperation are carried out on a daily basis, we can satisfy our customers and create social values through this," Chey said. "We expect that this will create greater happiness for SK members and customers."
Chey's remarks are interpreted as an attempt to accelerate innovation strategies to expand business portfolios with customers by utilizing AI & digital transformation and promoting social values, and to reaffirm that only when SK members are happy can they improve the happiness of their stakeholders.
"Just as companies set up meticulous strategies to generate profits, they also need sophisticated strategies and solutions to pursue happiness," Chey said at a seminar for CEOs in Jeju Island on Oct. 18.
SK Chairman Chey Tae-won, SK Vice Chairman Chey Jae-won and other CEOs of major related companies such as SK Innovation, SK Telecom and SK Hynix attended the opening ceremony, reflecting the group's high interest. About 4,000 people including executives and employees of SK Group, business partners, start-ups and universities attended the event.
