Kim Seung-taek, president of the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service (HIRA), won the grand prize on Oct. 24 for the first time as head of a public organization in the health and welfare sector in the service innovation category of the "2019 Korea CEO Hall of Fame."

The 2019 Korea CEO Hall of Fame is an event organized by the Korea Institute for Industrial Policy Studies and jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the JoongAng Ilbo and selects CEOs who contributed to the development of the nation's industry and economy with outstanding management skills and creative and differentiated management minds.

The service innovation section is awarded to the CEO who demonstrated excellent management leadership through sharing strategies and vision for service management, drawing up differentiated customer service programs, and implementing customer-friendly services.

An HIRA official said, "President Kim received the award in recognition of his hard work for the service of the people, including supporting policies to enhance health insurance coverage for a solid country without worrying about hospital costs."

In particular, he added, "After moving to Wonju City, Gangwon Province, in 2015, we worked hard to revitalize the local economy, and were highly praised for continuously pursuing customer satisfaction management while fulfilling the social responsibility of public institutions such as the festival for the disabled and the spread of the sharing culture."

"When all executives and employees make efforts to implement the government's policies without a hitch, HIRA will become a trusted institution for the public," said Kim, adding, "We will also become a global medical review and evaluation institution by providing quality screening and evaluation services to all customers, including the public and nursing institutions."
