Fire also occurs on the vehicles recalled by BMW

There have been a series of fires in BMW cars. BMW cars have even been recalled due to a series of fires, which has led to growing anxiety among users.

Three fires were reported in BMW cars alone in the two-day period, including a BMW car that was running on the Yongseo Expressway in Gyeonggi Province in the afternoon of Oct. 29.

According to the police, a BMW vehicle that was running in a tunnel down the Yongseo Expressway in Seongnam City on Oct. 29 evening caught fire.

There were no casualties, but the car burned for about 50 minutes, melting the front part of the car. At 8:12 a.m. on the same day, a BMW car that was driving in Pangyo past the Cheonggye toll gate in Uiwang, Gyeonggi Province, was put on fire and extinguished  in about five minutes.

The car owner, A, after attempting to put out the fire after smoke broke out from the air conditioner side of the vehicle, rushed out of the vehicle and reported it to the fire authorities.

Both vehicles that caught fire on Oct. 29 were confirmed to have been recalled by BMW Korea. According to BMW Korea, 525d vehicles were included in the second recall list, while 530d vehicles were included in the first recall list, which had completed the replacement of exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems and others.

BMW said the fire was not an EGR problem that has been blamed for the fires in the past. A day earlier, a BMW car caught fire near Hwado Nadeulmok in Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province, on the Seoul-Yangyang Expressway on Oct. 28.

Meanwhile, BMW Group Korea announced the results of a recall of a faulty EGR system related to the fire at the BMW Driving Center in Incheon in August, saying it will restore credibility.
