SPC Group was the first Korean company to win the Best Partner of the Year Award at the Global Restaurant Leadership Conference (GRLC) held at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel in Singapore on Nov. 5.
GRLC is the largest conference in the global food and beverage sector where CEOs of global food companies and experts from academia and industry gather to discuss the development of the food and beverage sector and strengthen the network.
GRLC selects and awards excellent food and beverage companies in four categories: partnership, growth, innovation and community services, and selects award-winning companies through strict screening by more than 100 global panelists consisting of CEOs of food and beverage companies and experts from academia.
Some of the world's leading food and beverage companies, including Starbucks (2016), Jollibee (2017) and Costa Coffee (2018) have won the awards.
The "partnership" category won by SPC Group is an award given to companies that have shown outstanding achievements in global expansion and localization.
SPC Group won the award for its successful completion of the Tianjin plant and expansion of the franchise business in China, successful entry into the U.S. core business zone, simultaneous entry of four brands within Singapore's Jewel Changi and establishment of a joint venture in Cambodia.
"The status of SPC Group brands such as Paris Baguette is increasing in the global F&B market," said Huh Jin-soo, head of SPC Group's Global BU. "We expect this award to be an opportunity to conduct various businesses with leading global companies."
Meanwhile, SPC Group operates some 400 overseas stores in five countries -- the United States, China, France, Singapore and Vietnam-- and recently established a joint venture in Cambodia with local companies, paving the way for the expansion of the Southeast Asian market.
