LG Uplus made an announcement on Nov. 7 that it has commercialized world's first 5G wireless network remote optimization technology that can optimize wireless network by adjusting service scope and direction of 5G base station antenna from remote.
To this end, it has also developed the Engineering Support System on its own technology, which automatically collects the quality of 5G wireless networks and automatically detects locations where services are poor in the collected quality data.
With the commercialization, LG Uplus will automatically derive the service scope and direction of the optimal base station antenna, which can provide the highest quality 5G service through automated simulation for areas with poor service quality, and can easily be applied to 5G base stations remotely.
As a result, quality optimization will be possible without on-site dispatch and time to optimize quality of 5G wireless network will be advanced.
Until now, it has been difficult to adjust the antenna, which determines the range and direction of base station services, as it had to rely on manual work to reflect the changing quality of the wireless network every day. In addition, it took a lot of time to analyze the quality and adjust the antenna, which limited it to provide the best quality.
"We have come up with a plan to maintain optimal quality at all times by automating discovery of areas with poor 5G service quality and changing direction of base station service. With the reduced base station quality optimization time, we will contribute to providing the best 5G quality to customers," said Park Song-chul, head of LG Uplus' NW Development Group.
