It has been confirmed that police have started a forced investigation into Home & Shopping, a TV home shopping company specializing in small- and medium-sized enterprises, after detecting its embezzlement of donations.
According to the police on Nov. 12, the Intelligence Crime Investigation Unit of Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency searched the headquarters of Home & Shopping in Magok-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul, on Oct. 25.
Police suspect that Home & Shopping embezzled some of social contribution funds it received in the name of social contribution. Related to this, police is reportedly calling in those involved and analyze the account books and other data it confiscated.
Earlier, during a parliamentary audit by the Trade, Industry and Energy Committee, Home & Shopping was pointed out that it donated more than half of its social contribution fund to the Love Sharing Foundation under the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business, which is its major shareholder.
Meanwhile, Mapo Police Station raided the home-and-shopping call center early last month on charges of falsifying employment and misappropriating operating expenses.
"We cannot confirm the details because the investigation is ongoing," a police official said.
