Samsung Display announced on Nov. 14 that it will expand its range beyond the existing gaming monitor market with a maximum curvature of 1,000R curved display to the office monitor market.
Samsung Display hosted the "Samsung Curved Forum 2019" at the Grand Maypool Hotel in Taipei, Taiwan, on Nov. 14. At the event attended by a total of 300 monitor manufacturers and distributors including Dell, HP, TPV and Foxconn, Samsung Display shared technologies, market prospects and consumption trends of curved displays and discussed ways to cooperate.
Samsung Display introduced the superiority of curved panels by introducing a variety of curved monitor panels ranging from 27 inches to 49 inches, comparing readability between curved and flat monitors, and preparing experience booths so that participants can feel vivid sense of realism and immersion when using games or sports content.
To actively target the B2B monitor market, which accounts for about 65% of the total monitor market, the 27-inch and 34-inch products introduced designs with maximum curvature of 1000R over the existing 1800R and 1,500R, and introduced 43.4-inch and 49-inch monitors to announce full-scale entry into the B2B monitor market.
The popularity of curved monitors is expected to continue, with a market research firm predicting that curved monitors will continue to grow after 2015 and more than 15 million units will be sold in 2020. As a result, sales of Samsung Display, which is leading the curved monitor market, are expected to expand as well.
"Samsung Display will strengthen its cooperative system with customers to expand its market and further solidify its product leadership through continuous research and development." said Vice President Nam Hyo-hak of Samsung Display's large business department.
