Hanmi Science joins hands with POSTECH, Pohang City to cultivate K-Bio talents

Hanmi Science, the holding company of Hanmi Pharmaceutical Group, will join hands with North Gyeongsang Province, Pohang City and POSTECH to foster professionals in the bio sector to enhance the global competitiveness of K-Bio.

Hanmi Science announced on Nov. 25 that it has signed MOUs with Gyeongsangbuk-do, POSTECH and Pohang City on cooperation in business, and that it has decided to engage in close mutual cooperation and exchange among industry, science and government fields to develop South Korea's pharmaceutical and bio industries.

The MOU signing ceremony was held at POSTECH's university headquarters, and Hanmi Science CEO Im Jong-yoon, Gyeongsangbuk-do's political affairs chief Lee Dal-hee, Pohang City Mayor Lee Kang-deok and POSTECH President Kim Moo-hwan jointly signed the business pact.

Under the MOU, Hanmi Science, Gyeongsangbuk-do, POSTECH and Pohang City will cooperate in developing new drugs and training of bio-specialists, training, human exchanges, exchange of technology information, joint use of research facilities and equipment, and joint participation in government and external research projects.

First of all, Hanmi Science will join hands with Gyeongsangbuk-do, POSTECH and Pohang City to train people optimized for the new drug development field.

"Education is one of the success factors behind China, which has recently announced a bio-first policy and continues the momentum of innovation," said Lim Jong-yoon, CEO of Hanmi Science. "This MOU will serve as a good opportunity to nurture global talent that will be responsible for K-Bio's future competitiveness."
