S-OIL held a ceremony at Yeongdeungpo Fire Station with the Korean National Council on Social Welfare on Dec. 4 to deliver 60 million won in medical expenses to the injured firefighters.
The amount delivered by S-OIL on the same day will be used for the treatment of 30 firefighters across the country who suffered injuries during fire control and rescue operations.
Since 2009, S -OIL has supported more than 300 injured firefighters as part of its program to protect the “firefighter heroes” with a total of 600 million won.
"We hope S-OIL will be of little help to firefighters who have been injured to protect the safety of their citizens at the scene of a dangerous accident," said Sun Jin-young, head of the S-OIL management support division, adding, "S-OIL will continue its program in order to boost the morale of firefighters, who are the guardian of our society, and to help stabilize the lives of their families."
Since 2006, S-OIL has been running the program with the Korean National Council on Social Welfare to cheer on firefighters who silently sacrifice themselves throughout society.
It pays 30 million won to the families of the victims in case of firefighter's death, and provides scholarships to about 70 bereaved children every year to help them concentrate on their studies in a stable manner.
