SK Group to show off leading mobility innovation technology in CES 2020

SK Group is going to introduce its mobility innovation technology at “CES 2020,” the world’s largest consumer electronics and IT fair, to be held in Las Vegas on January 7 next year.

In particular, SK plans to expand the total area of its showroom to 713 square meters from 91 square meters next year as “future mobility” has become one of the new growth engines in the group, and will comprehensively show the mobility value chain SK has from electric vehicle batteries to in-vehicle media (infotainment), semiconductors and automotive materials.

SK Innovation will introduce electric vehicle batteries, related materials and next-generation lubricant products to consumers at CES 2020. It is planning to introduce LiBS (Lithium-ion Battery Separator), which is a battery material with the world’s highest level of technology, eco-friendly lubricant products for electric vehicles, automotive interior materials, and materials that are lightened such as bumper.

SK Telecom is the only Korean mobile carrier participating in the CES, and will introduce 5G-based mobility and media services to visitors.

In particular, it will introduce a variety of real-time media services such as 5G mobile edge computing (MEC)-based high-definition TV and ATSC 3.0* in the U.S. along with IVI (In-Vehicle Infotainment), LiDAR and AI-based HD Map Live Update Technology, which will be installed in cars that are evolving as smart devices.

Under the theme of "Memory Centric World," SK Hynix will display semiconductor solutions such as DRAM, NAND flash memory and image sensors, which will be used in six business areas such as artificial intelligence, augmented reality, virtual reality, automotive, IoT, big data and 5G.

SKC is going to introduce special materials for mobility high-value and high-performance functions. In addition to mobile battery cathode material copper foil, which boasts the world’s slimmest manufacturing technology, it will also introduce PCT films that will be used in automotive cables and battery busbars to enable lightening of future cars.

In addition, SK Innovation and SKC will also introduce transparent polyimide films that enable flexible, foldable and rollable displays of the future.

“It will serve as a venue to show the future direction of the mobility sector based on various technologies held by SK, such as semiconductors, materials and media," an SK Group official said.
