Samsung SDS achieved its best-ever management performance last year by continuing to expand sales of its external businesses in the fourth quarter.
Samsung SDS on Jan. 30 unveiled its provisional performance, with sales rising 7 percent on-year to 10.719.6 trillion won in 2019 and operating profit rising 13 percent to 990.1 billion won.
Samsung SDS explained that its external business sales increased 31 percent on-year to 1.8 trillion won by actively securing customers other than Samsung-related companies in line with its management policy of "innovative growth through overseas business."
In particular, the four major IT strategic businesses - Intelligent Factory, Cloud, AI and Analytics and Solutions - continued to drive growth by accounting for more than 30 percent of IT service business sales for the second consecutive year.
According to business performance, sales from IT service businesses increased 3.8 percent to 5.872 trillion won from 5.656 trillion won last year, while external sales increased 26 percent year-on-year to 1 trillion won as foreign customers from various industries such as manufacturing, finance, and security were secured.
Sales from the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) rose by 10.7 percent from 4.377 trillion won to 4.846 trillion won last year.
Meanwhile, sales and operating profit rose 4.7 percent and 58 percent on-quarter to 2.78 trillion won and 326.2 billion won in the fourth quarter, respectively, to achieve the highest quarterly performance.
Samsung SDS has set its management policy as “securing growth engines through global businesses” this year. It plans to continue its growth by actively targeting strategic business to suit the characteristics of the global market and finding new customers and business models.
