Doosan Mobility Innovation (DMI) has started to implement ‘smart hydrogen drones’ with LG Uplus.
DMI and LG Uplus signed an MOU at LG Science Park in Magok on Jan. 30 to revitalize the hydrogen drone business, with DMI CEO Lee Doo-soon and LG Uplus corporate new business group chief Cho Won-seok attending.
By doing so, both companies will develop ‘Smart Hydrogen Drone’ solution that is equipped with LTE and 5G communication functions for hydrogen fuel cell drones that can fly for more than 2 hours.
The company is planning to establish ‘Smart Drone Control Service’ that can remotely manage drone status, flight planning, flight path and mission performance, and ‘Smart Drone Video Service’ that transmits drone images and photos in real time.
"Hydrogen drones that can fly for a long time will be transformed into smart hydrogen drones by meeting with next-generation network communications," DMI CEO Lee Doo-soon said. "We will provide an innovative platform that increases customer’s business value by implementing smart hydrogen drones."
Meanwhile, DMI participated in CES 2020 earlier this year and won the top innovation and innovation awards for its hydrogen fuel cell drone products. At CES, DMI signed an agreement with global IT firm Microsoft to develop drone solutions utilizing cloud platforms and digital technologies such as AI.
