Korean Air will open a cargo route in Budapest on Feb. 21, followed by a new service on the Incheon- Budapest passenger route from May 23.

The Incheon-Budapest passenger route to be newly launched by Korean Air will depart Incheon International Airport at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday every week and arrive at Budapest International Airport at 4:25 p.m. local time.

The Budapest departure flight (KE972) will depart Budapest at 6:30 p.m. and arrive in Incheon at 12:30 p.m. the following day. A330-200 aircraft with 218 seats will be used for the route.

In line with the growing demand for flights to Hungary, Boeing 777F cargo planes will be deployed twice a week (Friday, Sunday). The Korean Air Boeing 777F cargo plane departs from Incheon at 7:20 a.m. and returns to Incheon via Budapest and Frankfurt.

As the demand for flights to Hungary has been increasing rapidly centering on communication devices from China and e-commerce from Korea, it is expected that the company will increase profitability through the development of new markets.

Through the new launch, Korean Air plans to secure a competitive edge in the European market and dominate the Balkan market, a comp[an y spokesman said.

Meanwhile, the new launch will increase the number of overseas destinations of Korean Air to 115 cities in 44 countries.
