Woori Bank has stepped up efforts to help people in the Wuhan region, who are suffering from the spread of new coronavirus.
Woori Bank said on Feb. 6 that it delivered 2 million yuan (340 million won) in a donation to the Wuhan city charity council through its Chinese subsidiary.
The Wuhan city charity council is the official charity organization for donations related to the new coronavirus, and the donations are used to provide relief supplies and prevent the spread of the contagious disease.
Woori Bank's Chinese subsidiary is operating around essential work to prevent the spread of the Wuhan pneumonia. During the spring holidays, the company prepared masks and cleaning agents to protect customers and employees.
"We delivered the donation to help communities suffering from the spread of the new coronavirus," said an official at Woori Bank’s Chinese unit. "We are fully committed to financial support through the operation of 21 Chinese branches and call centers."
Woori Bank has been providing special funds worth 100 billion won since Feb. 3 for small- and medium-sized companies that are expected to be affected by the new coronavirus.
