Hanjin Group will sponsor the Ewha Womans University College of Pharmacy Fibrosis Control Center (FCC) as part of its project to pay tribute to the late Hanjin Chairman Cho Yang-ho.

Hanjin Group held a signing ceremony at Ewha Womans University's Pharmacology Hall on Feb. 12 and decided to sponsor air tickets to support the FCC’s unique work, such as attending overseas academic conferences and inviting lecturers to the research center.

Chairman Cho died of lung problems in the United States in April last year. In response, Hanjin Group decided to sponsor the research center, which was set up to overcome the fibrous disease, which is an increase in the number of cases due to the entry into the aging society and environmental problems.

The center was opened in June 2018 for the purpose of developing the original technology for treating the intractable disease. In addition, the center will receive 9.4 billion won in research funds by 2025, after being selected for the basic science leading research center supported by the Ministry of Science, Technology,

Information and Communication and the Korea Research Foundation in 2018.
Hanjin Group is planning various memorial projects this year to mark the first anniversary of the death of its chairman Cho. The sponsorship is the first of its kind for the "social contribution" project.

The late chairman Cho Yang-ho's social contribution activities have been emphasized since his father and the late Hanjin Group founder Cho Joong-hoon founded the group. "The spirit of sharing, one of the important roles of companies, is the foundation of creating a healthy society as light and salt in our society," the late Cho said.

Hanjin Group hopes to succeed Chairman Cho Yang-ho's spirit of sharing after his death and to be reborn as a contributing company that gives hope to patients, their family members, and society, a group spokesman said.
