Lee Kwan-soon, Vice-chairman of Hanmi Pharm., was appointed as the next chairman of Korea Pharmaceutical and Bio-Pharma Manufacturers Association (KPBMA).
The association held its second meeting of board chairmen at the pharmaceutical association building in Bangbae-dong, Seoul, on Feb. 12 to appoint Lee as the 14th chairman with a two-year term.
Lee graduated from Seoul National University in 1984 and joined Hanmi Pharm. as a researcher before serving as the head of the institute, executive director and CEO.
Vice-Chairman Lee is said to have enhanced Korea’s pharmaceutical bio industry’s ability to develop new drugs by spearheading research and development of Hanmi Pharm. and achieving results in technology exports.
The board will also recommend Chang Byung-won, former deputy director of the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, as the candidate for a full-time vice chairman following the expiration of the term of its Vice-Chairman Gal Won-il and take the selection process at the first board meeting of 2020 to be held on Feb. 18.
