Grib(CEO: Jeong Yeon-kyu) obtained a European patent for its independent hub "RINK," on Feb. 24. This new technology is a smart hub that allows users to conveniently use the internet of things (IoT) in their homes by embedding small server functions in hubs, making it easy for anyone to download applications without requiring servers or clouds.

The RINK hub is a type of dongle that can be plugged into a home wireless router (AP), which connects various IoT products such as smart gas lock, smart switch, and smart plug, and monitors and controls status in real-time.

Through South Korea's Internet-supplied service provider, Grib has been distributed to about 1.2 million households since 2015. RINK provides secure smart home service optimized for personal information protection that is unrivaled at home and abroad. New buildings, as well as old ones, can be simply upgraded with smart technology which gives consumers, many of whom previously had difficulty using the new technology, all the benefits of smart technology.

Previously known for commercializing "Z-Wave" technology for the first time in Korea, Grib has gone on to further prove its original technical skills by building the most IoT hub references in Korea and abroad and passed the threshold of the European Patent Office after one year and three months.

Jeong Yeon-kyu, CEO of Grib said "Hub is an essential network in the era of the fourth Industrial Revolution, which checks and controls conditions such as those open and closed by connecting dozens of sensors, and collects data of numerous objects."

Last year, Grib won the Excellence Award for demonstrating smart security solutions which linked independent

hub technologies to the "Mobius Platform" at the Mobius 2.0 IoT service developer competition hosted by Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI). Grib is a company that leads digital transformation by Convergence and Integration with technologies in the entire industries, focusing on areas where various objects can be connected using IoT integration solution plus artificial Intelligence (AI).

The company plans to equip its independent hub with edge computing and AI technologies and has already completed patent registration in Korea and is currently applying for them mainly in major foreign countries.

"Grib is expanding digital transformation to Soho, lodging industry, shops, and small and medium-sized building through various IoT device development and linkage technologies starting with an independent hub," Jeong said. "Since it has preempted the position of entering smart home markets overseas through registration of European patents, it will continue to become a national IoT company that is recognized on the global stage."
