Coupang was selected as the second most innovative company in the Asia-Pacific region of the "World's Most Innovative Companies for 2020 MIC" by Fast Company, a U.S. tech and economic media.
The Fast Company earlier named Coupang CEO Bom Kim as one of the 100 most creative businessmen in 2019.
The Fast Company explained the reason for the selection, saying that Coupang, called "Korea's Amazon," is doing what Amazon can't do. It noted that Coupang not only ship goods ordered by midnight in just a few hours until the next morning, but also that much of such deliveries are made without thick shipping boxes.
Coupang also introduced a series of "Morning Delivery" services, which will complete the delivery of goods within one day of order, and then complete the delivery before 7 a.m. the following day if ordered by midnight.
Millions of different kinds of products, including fresh food from ice cream to iPad, are delivered to customers in just hours, 365 days a year, through early morning delivery and one-day delivery.
To that end, Coupang has built large-scale logistics infrastructure across the country and uses artificial intelligence to predict customers' orders in advance and proceed with fast and accurate deliveries. Coupang has also created an eco-friendly experience by directly running all phases of delivery.
Coupang CEO Bom Kim said, "It is Coupang's mission to make customers' lives 100 times better than before. If we continue to show our customers that shopping can be easy and delivery can be fast like this, customers will not be able to imagine a world without Coupang at some point."
