South Korea has urgently exported 51,000 kits for collection, transportation and preservation to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which are needed for the COVID-19 inspection. This is the nation’s first export case of a collection kit since the COVID-19 incident.

"Presidential spokesman Kang Min-seok said on March 17, “UAE requested for urgent purchase of the kits after President Moon Jae-in talked with UAE Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the phone on March 5. Related to this, the Korean firm Noble Bio exported 51,000 kits to UAE last weekend.”

The collection kit is a container containing special drugs to preserve the virus contained in the samples taken.

The company previously exported its gene amplification test kits to 17 countries, but the presidential office reportedly kept it quiet in accordance with diplomatic practices as the countries in question did not want to disclose it.

In addition, the Seoul government has decided to accept the request of World Health Organization (WHO) to participate in the research of a forward-looking cohort led by Korean experts.
