Hanwha Solutions Vice President Kim Dong-kwan, the eldest son of Hanwha Group Chairman Kim Seung-youn, was newly appointed as the in-house director. After Kim was promoted to vice president last year, he became a director of Hanwha and Hanwha Solution's strategic division, heralding the third-generation’s management in earnest.
Hanwha Solutions held a regular shareholders' meeting at the Sejong Hotel in Seoul on March 24 and passed a bill to appoint Kim as its new in-house director. Kim Chang-beom, vice chairman of Hanwha Solutions’ board of directors, was re-elected as an in-house director.
Kim was promoted to vice president at the end of last year, four years after being promoted to executive vice president, and is rapidly expanding his managerial presence.
Kim has been serving as the chief of the strategic division of Hanwha Solutions and Hanwha, the group's holding company, since early this year.
The strategic sector is an organization that sets the company's future strategic direction and establishes mid- and long-term strategies such as investment plans.
With the appointment of Kim as an in-house director, Kim will also play a role in driving the implementation of mid- and long-term strategies of Hanwha Solutions, which encompasses petrochemicals and materials.
Regarding the appointment of Kim, Hanwha Solutions said that as an in-house director, he will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest global competitiveness.
