Mirae Asset Chairman Park Hyun-joo will donate the entire 2019 dividend set at Mirae Asset Global Investments' shareholders' meeting on March 30.
The donation of Chairman Park's dividend from Mirae Asset Global Investments, which began in 2010, totals 25 billion won over the 10-year period, including 1.7 billion won this time.
This is the only dividend Park receives from among all affiliates of Mirae Asset Group, and the donation will be used to foster scholarship students and social welfare projects through the Mirae Asset Park Hyun-joo Foundation.
For instance, Mirae Asset's scholarship program is the largest scholarship program for exchange students in Korea, which selects 700 talented students every year to help Korean talent cultivate knowledge and experience culture in a wide world and supports tuition and stay-at-home expenses.
Mirae Asset Group, along with the Ministry of Education, has signed an MOU on educational donation, leading the way in fostering talent based on its expertise in the financial sector.
In recognition of his active role in the human resources development project, he won the first Education Donation Award in 2012 and the Education Donation Certification Mark in 2013.
Mirae Asset Chairman Park established Mirae Asset Park Hyun-joo Foundation in 2000 with 7.5 billion won in private funds.
The foundation, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, is spreading the sharing culture to "practice capitalism with consideration."
