KT said on April 14 that it will sign a memorandum of understanding with Doosan Fuel Cell to expand its fuel cell business at the Novotel Ambassador Hotel in Dongdaemun, Seoul.
Fuel cells are high-efficiency power generation systems that produce electricity and heat through electrochemical reactions of hydrogen and oxygen.
Through the agreement, the two companies will first jointly develop an "intelligent unmanned driving platform" for fuel cells by utilizing KT AI technology and KT-MEG (Micro Energy Grid), an intelligent integrated energy management platform.
Fuel cell "Intelligent Unmanned Driving Platform" is a platform that automatically produces stable, high-quality power without the presence of a large number of people for operation by power generation operators using fuel cells.
The platform includes automatic fuel cell operation, collecting real-time operation information, emergency measures in case of a problem, preparation maintenance and operation and unmanned control of fire and intrusion in facilities through video security system.
Both companies will push for a project to develop energy-saving models that utilize fuel cells for KT-owned buildings across the country.
The project will install a fuel cell in an energy-consuming building to utilize the generated heat for heating and hot water. It will model energy savings and also check AI-based platforms.
In addition, the two companies will join forces in pushing ahead with the project of a hydrogen-powered city in Ansan, which has a hydrogen ecosystem and uses hydrogen as its main energy source.

"We will work together to spread renewable energy and revitalize the hydrogen economy through strategic cooperation with KT."

"We will continue to cooperate with Doosan Fuel Cell to revitalize eco-friendly, high-efficiency energy businesses."
