Korea Midland Power (KOMIPO) has donated 10,000 protective clothing worth $100,000 to Indonesia, where COVID-19 infections are rapidly spreading.
Indonesia is currently taking intensive quarantine measures due to 5,516 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 496 deaths as of April 17, but local medical staff are wearing raincoats to treat patients due to poor quarantine supplies.
The volume was produced in Indonesia by six local Korean sewing companies after bringing in fabric from Korea, a KOMIPO official said on April 20.
KOMIPO President Park Hyung-koo said, "We have decided to donate the goods on humanitarian grounds for the safety of Indonesian medical staff who are struggling at the forefront to overcome the COVID-19 crisis."
Meanwhile, the Cirebon power plant operated by KOMIPO signed an agreement with Cirebon City on April 13 to supply sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl, disinfectant) produced by the Cirebon power plant.
KOMIPO has been at the forefront of support activities in Indonesia's disaster situations, including the last Sulawesi earthquake and the Sunda Strait tsunami, and is actively carrying out creating shared value (CSV) activities throughout Indonesia
