Samsung Electronics' No. 4h labor union has begun full-fledged activities by demanding collective bargaining to the management. Its demand for collective bargaining is the first official move since the launch of the fourth labor union, Hankyung.com reported exclusively on April 27.

According to the media outlet, the National Samsung Electronics Labor Union (No. 4 union), affiliated with the Korean Federation of Trade Unions' National Metal Workers' Union, submitted a request for collective bargaining to the management.

The No. 4 labor union is reportedly demanding the guarantee of union activities and the creation of an office for labor unions, among other things, according to the request for collective bargaining submitted to the management.

Launched officially in November last year, the No. 4 labor union has continued their activities until this month with an emphasis on expanding their union members.

The fourth labor union plans to make full-fledged moves toward the representative union of Samsung through the latest request for negotiations.

It is reported that the existing 1st and 2nd labor unions in Samsung Electronics are planning to join forces with the 4th labor union. However, the three unions are expected to take their own steps.

An official of Samsung Electronics said, "We have received an official request for collective bargaining from the fourth labor union and are reviewing related details."
