Woori Financial Group announced on May 17 that it has newly declared the group's digital vision "Digital for Better Life" on May 15 and established the "Digital Innovation Committee," a control tower led by Chairman Sohn Tae-seung and Woori Bank President Kwon Kwang-seok.
Chairman Sohn said at the digital vision declaration ceremony held on the same day, "Untact trend caused by COVID-19 has become a next normal (new standard), not a temporary trend," stressing, "Now is the golden time for digital innovation."
In particular, “Digital First, Change Everything” was presented as a new management slogan for the post-corona era, with the intention of putting digital strategy first and focusing all of the group's capabilities on digital.
On the same day, when the group's management council was also held, Sohn and the CEOs of its subsidiaries selected a variety of digital innovation tasks, including super-personal marketing measures using innovative digital technologies such as artificial intelligence and big data, and plans to build a group's mobile platform system.
Chairman Sohn called for the group's joint cloud being built by Woori FIS, the group's computer subsidiary, to be promoted more speedily.
In addition, Chairman Sohn said that he plans to strengthen external cooperation through bold open innovation strategies such as directly acquiring fintech companies or actively pursuing digital collaboration with other industries, while simultaneously pushing for measures to strengthen internal capabilities such as dispatching employees to AI expert training courses linked to ICT companies, judging that the group's future is at stake in the competitiveness of digital professionals in the group.
Woori Financial Group immediately launched the "Digital Innovation Committee" to secure top-down leadership by forming a "Digital Innovation General" organization headed by Chairman Sohn and President Kwon, while also creating the "BLUE Team" consisting of young and innovative employees of the group to respond to the rapidly changing digital trend.
