Hanmi Pharm Group announced on Aug. 10 that it has appointed Song Young-sook, chairwoman of the Gahyeon Cultural Foundation, as its new chairwoman. Song is the wife of the late former chairman of Hanmi Pharm Group Lim Sung-ki and has been an advisor in charge of CSR to Hanmi Pharm since 2017.
Song has been quietly contributing to the growth of Hanmi Pharm Group by assisting Lim in close proximity by discussing key management decisions with the former chairman in the process of establishing and developing the group and affiliates.
In particular, she contributed a lot to overcoming various difficulties caused by political and cultural differences between Korea and China at the time of the establishment of Beijing Hanmi Pharm.
The new chairwoman also discussed with Lim the establishment and expansion of domestic factories and research institutes, as well as major investments, to help make judgments.
Song said, "We will continue to focus on the development of new drugs with the current management at the center and contribute to achieving a strong pharmaceutical power by promoting continuous relations with overseas partners."
Born in Gimcheon, North Gyeongsang Province, Song graduated from Sookmyung Women's University's education department in 1948, established the Hanmi Photo Art Museum in 2003, and received the Order of Culture and Arts Merit, the Chevalier, from the French government in 2017.
