Alsaba is perhaps like nothing you have seen before in Itaewon, or even in Korea. When most people think of Pakistani food in a foreigners district, the image they might get is that of a typical Indian-style establishment, with pictures of the Taj Mahal on the wall, full of non- Koreans speaking loudly in English. But nothing could be further from the truth.

March 23 is the National Day of Pakistan, marking the historic Pakistan Resolution which was passed in Lahore in 1940. The Korea IT Times took this opportunity to stop by the Pakistani embassy and visit with Murad Ali, the Ambassador of Pakistan to the Republic of Korea, and to talk about national holidays, the IT industry, and international trade relations.

At the beginning of the 20th Century, the Turkish people bravely fought a War of Independence to preserve their sovereignty and independence under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and founded the Republic of Turkey on 29 October 1923. This year, the Turkish Republic is celebrating the 84th anniversary of her establishment.

Turkey attaches great importance to her relations with the Republic of Korea which has a foreign policy based on similar principles. On 11 August 1949, Turkey recognized Republic of Korea.

There are many ways of doing a rain check for the year 2010. One can observe the clouds to see which way the majority is tilting towards, feel the gushing winds and see what the media has to say, or one can simply see what the government has to say about the following year. With all the speculation about what has to happen in 2010, the government certainly seems firm about their plans and policies that will lead to economic development, better living standards, and overall just do a better job putting food on the table for everyone.

The new Minister of Knowledge Economy, Choi Kyung-hwan, addressed R&D business reform.

A high official meeting of the Ministry of Knowledge Economy was held at the Gwacheon Government Complex on September 29th. One notable thing Choi said during the meeting was, "You should not go from Seoul to Busan without any stops," reconfirming the initiative to remove all bad R&D projects through mid-term evaluations. Since his speech at the inaugural address on 21st of last month, this is his third time emphasizing R&D reform in public. One of the high officials who attended the meeting said, "It is his firm determination to achieve  R&D structure reform."

A comprehensive brain research center will open in 2013. The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology said on Sept. 30 that it has finalized a plan to establish a Korea Brain Research Center (tentatively named) which will play a leading role in conducting comprehensive research on various cerebral diseases and convergence research on the brain in preparation for an aging society.

This brain research center is expected to emerge as a convergence research Mecca encompassing brain medical science, IT and natural sciences, and as a laboratory of brain science.

The Gyeonggi provincial government has decided to develop Gwanggyo Techno Valley as Korea's leading science and technology cluster.

A ceremony was held at Gwanggyo Techno Valley on Sept. 22, where Gyeonggi Province declared its vision to turn the valley into a mecca of state of the art science and announced a brand integration.

Important historical figure Kim Dae-jung, former president of the Republic of Korea, passed away today.  He is best known for winning the Nobel Peace Prize in 2000 for seeking reconciliation with North Korea.  He was 85.  A hospital official where he was being treated for pneumonia said that he died of heart failure.
