Renault Samsung is a car company known for its stately, conservative automobiles. So the eMX concept car that is on display in their booth this year is a real surprise. It is also a treat for the eyes, all soft curves and rounded edges. This is RSM Design's first concept car, and the eMX stands for eco-Motoring Experience.

Press day and opening day are fundamentally different animals at the Seoul Motor Show. Press day is a highly regimented event where a desperate crowd of camera-wielding people crowd one booth after another in a prearranged schedule, and each carmaker attempts to outdo the others in pizzazz and style. Opening day, on the other hand, has only one press scrum - the opening ceremony.

Here are some more photos from the show floor of Seoul Motor Show 2009.  Today, April 3, was the opening day of the show, which is slightly different from press day in that there are more people but less events.  These photos will be a mix of those from press day, April 2, and opening day today.

The Seoul Motor Show 2009's press day was today, and both Chun Go-eun and I were there to take the photos and get the hard-hitting stories about new cars.  Overall the event seemed to be just the same as previous events, since there was just as large a swarm of reporters as there always is, and the auto companies seemed to spare no expense to try to impress, as they have in the past.  Judging from the show, there is no economic crisis.  However, there was one big theme in that every company was talking about hybrids, green cars, and alternative fuels.

CT&T cooperated with KAIST to develop hydrogen fuel-cell hybrid electric car systems and Multi-Energy Hybrid Electric Vehicles (ME-HEVs), and now they are applying for a patent.

When Ju-Yung Chung founded Hyundai Auto Service in Seoul in 1946 at the age of 31, nobody knew that it would grow to be one of the leading auto makers in the world. Also, when he broke ground for the construction of Hyundai Motor Company in Ulsan in 1967, few imagined that the company would extend its business and build assembly lines in Alabama. More surprisingly, when the young Chung started to assemble the Ford Cortina in 1968, just a year after the ground breaking, nobody thought that it would even survive fierce confrontations with such big lions from Japan, France, Germany and the US.
