A violent earthquake, named 'Megathrust' swept Chile early on Saturday, February 27, killing hundreds of people, destroying parts of southern Chile and triggering tsunami warnings for the entire Pacific basin. The magnitude is bigger than Haiti but the death count is less; nonetheless, there are massive repairs required in buildings and other infrastructures. Children left with no parents or separated from their families will be registered and put into needed care.

India welcomes Korea's aid in expanding its fixed and wireless Internet broadband networks. Choi See-jung, the head of Korean telecom regulator met with India's telecom secretary, PJ Thomas, in New Delhi on February 19 in Oberoi Hotel.

Both representatives attended a forum under the name of 'Korea-India Convergence of Broadcasting and Communications' where Choi was quoted in the KCC statement as telling Thomas that Korea will provide its WiBro, DMB, IPTV and other technologies to boost India's broadband networks.
