The Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone (GFEZ) Authority aims to attract a total of USD1.3 billion in investment from domestic and foreign investors this year, a top official of the authority said.

Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation (GCGF) has been selected as the best public institution in Gyeonggi Province for 2010.

"GCGF won the top grade in an appraisal of 21 public institutions in Gyeonggi Province for 2009. In the appraisal, GCGF received an 'S' grade in institutional assessment for the fourth consecutive year and an 'S' grade in CEO estimation for the third consecutive year," said Park Hae-chin, chairman and president of GCGF.

The government is making a strong push for construction of a system which will lead to a low carbon-type of production and consumption, a top government official in charge of the environment said.

World IT Show 2010 (WIS 2010), the nation's biggest IT exhibition, will be held at COEX in Seoul from May 25-28.

"About 550 domestic and foreign IT companies will set up a total of 1,400 booths at the international IT fair, which is expected to attract some 60,000 visitors this year," stated Chung Man-won, chairman of the Korea Association of Information and Communications (KAIT).

The 2010 G-Global Aviation in Ansan will be held in the Gyeonggi Province for six days from April 30 to May 5 under the subject of "dream and hope in the sky." Through the international event, the Gyeonggi Province plans to foster green growth, convergence industry which combines aviation and tourism, a spokesperson of Gyeonggi Tourism Organization said.

Korea Water Resources Corp. (K-water) will continue pushing ahead with 14 tasks to enhance efficiency of management through the introduction of an advance system. By 2012, K-water will slash person power and introduce a performance-based pay system to make it one of the most respectable state-run corporations.

The Visit Korea Year Committee (VKC) has been making a strong push for four major  projects in 2010 to attract 10 million tourists a year, a top official of the committee said.

The Public Procurement Service (PPS) plans to export Korea ON-line E-Procurement System (KONEPS), called the "Narajangteo" in Korean, to countries in North-West Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

Jeollabuk-do has attracted about W8.3 trillion in investment from 427 companies since July 2006 when the governor of the province was inaugurated.

In particular, the province attracted 11 global companies with an investment of over W100 billion  during the period, greatly contributing to the regional development, Kim Wan-joo, governor of Jeollabuk-do said.
