October 13th, 2011 -- The Korea Electronic Show 2011 (KES 2011), is held at KINTEX from Oct. 12~16. The theme of this year's event is "Be smArt!" emphasizing smart electronics and appliances with unique design. This year's "smArt!" theme dose not just apply to computers and electronics but house appliances.

Korea's biggest IT business exhibition, World IT Show 2010 (WIS 2010), is soon to be held at COEX in Seoul from May 25~28. WIS 2010 is hosted by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy (MKE), Korea Communications Commission (KCC) and Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST). Under the slogan of 'Feel IT, See the Next', the trend of future IT industry can be experienced through new technologies displayed by hundreds of exhibitors.

Plenary II of SHAPE 2010 covered the topic of "NPT Review". Nuclear non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) was established in 1968, to ensure that nuclear power will be used safely and peacefully by Nuclear Weapons States (NWS) as well as Non-Nuclear Weapon States (NNWS). Various speakers around the globe made presentations to discuss NPT.

"NPT Review French View"

Incheon City Hall is not far from Seoul, but it feels really far. Although Incheon is the closest metropolitan city from Seoul, I was more than 20 minutes late for my interview due to heavy traffic. Finally, I started my interview with Mr. Hwang Ui-sik, the Director of Culture, Tourism, and Sports Bureau of Incheon City.

Choi, See-joong, the chairman of Korea Communication Commission (KCC), has met with Qualcomm CEO, Paul Jacobs, on Monday to discuss the potential investment in Korean companies and to build a partnership with venture companies.

The Korea Communications Commission (KCC) is getting ready to allow terrestrial broadcasters to broadcast around the clock and test 3-D terrestrial broadcasting this year. At Present, terrestrial broadcasters' operating hours are limited from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m the next day.

KCC's 2010 operations report was sent to President Lee Myung-bak at the end of the year. The KCC said, “It will also draw up new policies regarding new television channels and advertising markets. The combined value of the two markets was KRW4.2 trillion last year.”

KEPCO has developed Korea’s first electric vehicle charging station, which will bring the commercialization of an electric vehicle earlier than expected. On January fifth, KEPCO made an announcement that the researchers have finished testing and demonstrated the electric charging station.
