On December 14th 2009 the Ministry of Knowledge Economy announced the 'World Class Product of Korea.' This was a triumphant moment for 387 current world class products and 197 next-generation world class products of Korea for the event was the promise of active support from the government.

On December 15, the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, at the Grand Ballroom in Intercontinental Hotel, selected 10 best Korean Technologies that were economically influential in 2009.  Five were selected as the world's first developed products and the others were picked as the world's best technologies.  10 best technologies were selected by experts in their own fields such as electronics, machinery, aviation, material, chemical, life science, and environment resources.

Choi Geum-Ho, the department chief of Korean Agency for Technology and Standards, became the first Korean to be elected as a standing committee of the Nomination Committee under APLAC (Asia-Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation).  Also, the APLAC MRA (Multi-lateral Recognition Agreement) the council has finalized its decision to hold the board meeting in Seoul.

KT will expand its investment on 3W (Wi-Fi, Wibro, WCDMA) and FTTH (Fiber to the Home).  For reinforcement of IPE (Industry Productivity Enhancement), SK Telecom will maintain the appropriate sections.  By securing low frequency network, LG telecom will ready for the early deployment of the 4G commercial services.  Big Three Telecommunication Companies in Korea will confirm their core management strategies this year to expand their marginal returns. Starting this month, they will set fundamental basis for the future commercial services.

On October 29th, Barak Obama met with Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore at the White House.  In the Oval Office, Lee said it was his honor to see Obama "at a time of renewal and change in America, and during a period of transition where the world order is changing."  From his inauguration in the White House, Obama mentioned that he wants to improve relationships with influential East Asian countries.
