Many consumers of the iPad had hoped that it would have a camera as one of it's features, but it did not. However, it has been reported that the next iPad release will have a camera. If the iPad does feature a camera, it will likely be a front-facing camera that will support Facetime. Right now, Facetime's new video-chatting is only available on the iPhone 4. Some sources say that this feature may also be available on the iPod Touch as well.
Before the iPad came out, Apple leaned towards supporting a camera for the iPad, but that idea was removed. Pictures of the final revision of the iPad's tablet mainframe leads people to speculate that the iPad will indeed have a front-facing camera.
