The tablet makers who control the market right now are Apple and Samsung; however, that could change after Toshiba hits the market with its intended purpose to attract those who want the portability of the tablet minus the expensive contracts that come with wireless carriers.

After research, Toshiba discovered that many people even with laptops connect wirelessly via Wi-Fi rather than signing up with a wireless carrier. Toshiba remarked, "We think that having a carrier connection will be important, but not at this early stage." This idea prompted Toshiba to sell its tablet at general electronics stores where everyone buys laptops.

This tablet is also packed with specifications that are seen in regular laptops. For instance, it includes a USB drive, replaceable battery, and even a HDMI port to connect to TVs. It's a remarkable difference that takes this little device to a bigger and greater picture when it comes to movie viewing or presentations. Toshiba is proving to be a visionary by taking the current trend and mixing it with the traditional technology.

The tablet will run on Google’s Android OS similar to its rival Samsung. Toshiba seems to take the best of both competitors by also taking the bigger screen size, 10.1-inch, from the Apple iPad design. The Toshiba tablet is expected to be released in the first half of the year.
