The 2011 International CES frenzy ended on January 9 with record breaking numbers of international attendees and CEO participants. As the largest international trade show in the world, it included numerous avenues to reveal the latest technologies through Keynote speeches and other product presentation methods. CES extended its reach this year by including a new highlight program referred to as "Entertainment Matters."
The demand for specific advanced technologies was evident in that the show featured a variety of devices such as TV-connective technologies, wireless 4G LTE, electric cars, and smart appliances. The hard hitting companies included Sony, Microsoft Corp, Samsung, LG, and GE in addition to other less-known companies who boasted at receiving the "Best of Innovations 2011" awards.
The show swarmed with celebrity appearances by the likes of 50 Cent, DJ Envy, Aiden Turner, and more. Entertainment Matters highlighted the importance of collaboration between Hollywood and Technology-focused companies to take Home Entertainment to the next level. Enthusiasm raced though the crowds as celebrities promoted the latest technologies and showed how a technology driven world will affect the lives of everyone in the near future.
900 Keynote speakers featured in the show included Samsung, Xerox, Audi, Verizon, and Ford among many others as well. Boo-Keun Yoon, Samsung CEO, represented the Korean force in the advancing technologies through a high-energy presentation. Yoon revealed the latest concept of Samsung known as "Digital Humanism" in motion.
Digital Humanism aims to satisfy the emotional needs of people through what Samsung calls the 4 A's: Access, Align, Amaze, and Act. The underlining purpose is to connect people through clean and smart devices that offer comfort. It's a kick to the previous visions that moves the motivation behind R&D to the human heart.
Among technologies presented by Samsung at the show, it received two awards for the devices: 3D Active glasses (SSG-3700CR) and BD-D7500, a slim Blu-ray disc player with 2D-3D conversion. LG also received an award for its NANO Full LED TV. Other products featured that were award worthy include: audio, handsets, Bluetooth, Vehicle-specific, and home technologies created by other companies both big and small.
2011 International CES kicked off the year with a special glimpse of products that will soon become part of our lives at school, work, home, and everywhere in between. It can be expected that technologies will be connected making our lives simpler. Technology production is not just a company affair, it is a global one. Collaboration and vision is the key.
