CEO Alfred S. Koh of Samsung SDS

The new CEO of Samsung SDS, Koh Soon-dong (Alfred S. Koh), said at a press conference today that with all the strengths of SDS and the new business ideas the company seeks overseas business to grow this new year to 30 percent. Currently, 20 percent of its business is made from overseas.

The newly-appointed president is significant to Samsung SDS since the company is establishing a new plan and hopes. As a global leader who worked with IBM for twenty years, President Koh brought many changes to Samsung SDS in terms of company system and business models. Knowledge management, system integration, engineering outsourcing, and a shift of the business model to ICT from IT, all contributed to the steady growth of the company. The new CEO at the conference aimed for further growth of the company with more changes and preparations. "We believe that we need to be fully prepared for the changes in the market, and this is why we are confronting all the difficulties of cloud computing to be fully prepared for a new trend and the new market in business," he was quoted as saying.

The final winner is the company that satisfies the customer to the end

Samsung SDS has successfully secured markets all around the world. According to the new CEO, regardless of the change in a company, or the business model, the key to success is who can satisfy the customer the most. "It may be impossible to satisfy all the customers at all time, but negative feedback from a customer rather tightens the relationship in the process of correction. More business plans and strategies are created when we have both positive and negative feedbacks from our customers."

"We have been focusing on improving the quality of each country's life with digitalization and ICT. Our biggest strength has thus become an e-government system. With convergence as our new vision, we can develop ITS and construction systems in any other country abroad. We are seeking to expand our businesses overseas this year in establishing or constructing various ICT systems around the world."

With the company's core value ICSP (Inovative, Creative, Sustainability, and Passion), Samsung SDS hopes to build a new future with convergence, change, and new business. CEO Koh took the opportunity to kill some passing rumors at the conference as well. "Samsung SDS is secure in capital and cash, and is not looking find a partner or perform a merger or acquisition," said the CEO. Samsung SDS learned from previous overseas projects and matured the company strategy. With a new strategy based on these experiences, Samsung SDS expects the overseas business to expand this year again.
