LG Display will speed up its plan to produce eighth-generation LCD lines at the maximum capacity in late May, which is earlier than originally scheduled time late this year. LG Display will perform these exploits just two months after it began operating its LCD production line. The company will break a record by increasing LCD production capacity to the maximum in the shortest period of time, considering that it normally takes more than six months for an LCD manufacturer to reach full capacity after it puts the production line into operation.
LG Display plans to produce up to 83,000 LCD plates per month, the largest production capacity for an eighth-generation LCD manufacturer, to meet the increasing demand for small and medium-sized TV panels.
Samsung Electronics is also expected to begin mass-producing first-phase LCD lines in June. It therefore remains to be seen what effect these two electronics manufacturers' mass-production of LCD lines will have on the LCD panel market after the second half of the year.
