Analysts IDTechEx have added a number of carefully chosen best-in-class speakers to the lineup for their unique event that covers the whole subject for the first time. There are six on-road vehicle manufacturers plus two companies involved in off-road electric vehicles. Six organisations describe electric aircraft work and four speakers cover their inland and seagoing electric boats. For example, the largest solar boats push the state of the art, so Grove Boats, which helped to design the Solar Odyssey circumnavigating the globe, is presenting alongside Kopf Solarschiff with the largest solar lake boats.

The most exciting work on components and subsystems is being aired. Change is not incremental here: it involves rather sudden adoption of very new technologies. For instance, the speakers on new components now include Nanotecture on asymmetric supercapacitors that combine the benefits of both batteries and supercapacitors.

With more and more electrics and electronics replacing hardware in electric vehicles, improving the circuit design and functionality and making it smaller, lower cost and lighter weight are key. This is covered by Lithium Balance battery management systems being presented and a talk on printed electronics and electrics.

Few people design an electric vehicle nowadays without thinking about at least one form of energy harvesting. Two is increasingly common and there are many examples of three modes of harvesting in one vehicle coming along. At the event, this will be revealed by several presentations on the new flexible and thin film photovoltaic and thermoelectric harvesting plus powerful linear electrodynamic harvesting. Holst Centre will cover piezoelectric harvesting for the intelligent tyre.

Power sources are completely changing. Organisers IDTechEx by pass the problems of cost, size and safety today's best selling traction batteries to concentrate on Valence Technology's lithium iron phosphate batteries with their superior temperature tolerance and elimination of precious materials. They are newly succeeding in boats and land vehicles. Exhibitors ABSL reveal advanced traction batteries for military vehicles. Oxis Energy third generation battery chemistry is covered, with its exceptional energy density.

Then there is the issue of range extenders beyond modified internal combustion engines. That includes presentations on mini turbines in the planned Jaguar CX75 supercar and fuel cells in airport ground support equipment, aircraft, taxis and motorcycles.

Even airliners are about to become electric vehicles when on the ground - taxiing silently and independently thanks to their electric nosewheels covered at the conference. Antonov reveals next generation gear trains specifically designed for EVs.

Many famous names will provide their latest news and view of the future. Daimler AG Mercedes Benz developing its electric delivery van, Tesla on how it is going mainstream, Adam Opel and EADS the aerospace giant will present. So will Tata Motors, the largest automotive company in India, that owns Jaguar Land Rover and developing many EVs in both India and the UK.

The superlatives always teach us something. Asola will describe its creation of the world's most powerful car solar panel: it is on the Fisker Karma. The third largest automotive company in India, Tara International, will describe its Tara Tiny, the world's lowest cost, fully enclosed road car. Superlative fast charging is the topic for Siemens, with a complete rethink of charging infrastructure from Mitsubishi Electric.

Organiser Dr Peter Harrop says, "We are delighted that these speakers have agreed to create the first comprehensive event on the subject, unburdened by content-free commercials on today's electric cars. To get the best, we now have many speakers from Germany, the UK, Switzerland, Italy and the USA and some from India, the Netherlands, France and elsewhere. We embrace manned and unmanned, hybrid and pure electric vehicles by land, sea and air - essential when components and subsystems suppliers wish to sell to all of them. Indeed, vehicle suppliers are increasingly leveraging their expertise by making many of these types of vehicle. The event will start with a full examination of our ten year global market forecasts for all these vehicles and end with Natureo Finance of France explaining investment available for manufacturers of EVs and their components.
