A day before the opening of the Asia Electronics Exhibition in Shanghai (AEES) 2011, the Korean Companies Meeting was hosted by the Korea Electronics Association (KEA) at the Sheraton Shanghai Hotel. More than 70 representatives from 45 Korean companies participating in this year’s event, as well as Hwang Ho-jun, administrative official of the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Jeong Jin-woo, director of KEA, and the Brave Girls gathered together.

 As

Mr. Jeong Jin-woo opened the meeting

, the attendants were gathered around the table in an amicable atmosphere enjoying friendly conversations with one another. “I would like to thank all of you who came here today,” Mr. Jeong said. “This meeting was organized as part of an effort to strengthen the exports of the Korean electronics industry under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Gyeonggi-do Provincial Government, SBA, Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Government, and Goyang City. Since its launch in 2004, the Korean Pavilion at AEES has been serving as a platform for boundless business opportunities between South Korea and China, which is currently our largest trade partner. As you know, entering the Chinese market means a bright future for companies and a stronger national competence for Korea, and, therefore, the KEA is inviting the top 100 Chinese companies to hold a trade fair during AEES 2011 as well.

Opening Cermony

We hope to see many Korean participants benefit from this opportunity and go back home with good results,” he added.

The next speaker was Hwang Ho-jun, an administrative official of the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, who said, “The trade between South Korea’s electronics industry and China’s has exceeded 200 billion dollars now. Clearly, we are beginning to rely more on trade with China, and when China’s export falls, so does ours, as we mainly export parts and processed goods to the country. For that reason, the Korean government has come up with a strategy to increase exports targeting the Chinese domestic market, thus, Chinese consumers, will have a wide range of products from companies who are entering the market. AEES 2011 is one of the seven major exhibitions supported by the Korean government. With unique quality and excellence, I hope the Korean Pavilion will be able to captivate all local visitors.”

The meeting was further energized by the performance of the Brave Girls, who were invited to help attract visitors to the

Korean Pavilion, and by a toast by Kim Hae-beom, CEO of Sein Eng. “Our company succeeded in signing a 7.5 million dollar contract through last year’s AEES,” Mr. Kim said. “We are expecting another contract of the same scale this year too. I hope all of the companies at the Korean Pavilion will see their efforts come to fruition as well.”

Brave Girls

Meanwhile, KEA set the tone for the flourishing event with the performance by the Brave Girls and the Yong-in Taekwondo Demonstration Team and the green booth, which stands out from the others, promising a powerful response from local visitors, buyers, and the media.
