SEOUL,KOREA --- Today, Seoul Semiconductor Co., Ltd. (KOSDAQ: 046890) announced that they and Royal Philips Electronics have agreed to settle their pending legal cases and to enter into a cross license agreement covering patents relating to specific LED technology areas. Under this arrangement, each party gains access to a substantial part of the other party's patent portfolios for various LED level technologies.
Seoul Semiconductor says, “As cross-license agreement details are usually kept confidential, we, too, have agreed not to disclose any terms under this relationship.” This agreement further substantiates Seoul Semiconductor as a global innovator and leader in the LED industry. "We can now direct all of our attention towards continuing to innovate LED technology and to drive adoption through quality and value. By entering into such a cross-license agreement and relationship with Philips, Seoul Semiconductor anticipates enhancing its technological flexibility to meet its customer needs worldwide.
Separately, Seoul Semiconductor has recently introduced Acrich2. “We are very excited about our Acrich family of products (www.acrich.com) and especially Acrich2 (http://www.acriche.com/en/product/prd/acrich2.asp) which was introduced in October 2011 and it eliminates the technical barriers associated with high-voltage and AC-driven LED solutions.” says John Bae VP Sales.
Seoul Semiconductor also has existing patent agreements with the world’s leading manufacturers regarding LED technology.
