Gyeonggi Province awarded prizes to 28 teams in three categories in the UCC and Clean Smart Service Team Activity Contest after finishing the 2011 Creating a Beautiful Smart World Campaign in partnership with the Smart-Gyeonggi Forum and the Clean Contents Movement Headquarters in the National Assembly in Seoul on December 5. The campaign aims at reducing negative comments and trolling on the Internet which are emerging as a serious a social problem due to the anonymity of Internet users. In particular, they can be aggressive and violent, and can seriously hurt people’s feelings.
So the campaign started in order to teach people about the necessity of good manners among Internet users as this could result in bigger social ills if no measure is taken against it. The Clean Smart Service Teams were launched on August 24. The teams are led by KT’s IT supporters providing about 9000 people to schools and other organizations to offer education programs on the importance of good replies and clean content. The programs covered how to use SNS well, adverse effects of smartphones, the importance of clean content, why trolling is bad and the production of a clean UCC.
On the other hand, about 500 IT maniacs across the country participated in the UCC and Clean Smart Service Team Activity Contest. The Prize of the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Sports went to a UCC work, “Dinner” by Kim Min-jeong, a student of Hanse University and three other students.
The Changsi Movie Village Team of Hanyang University won the Prize from the Minister of Public Administration and Security for “UCC Creates Healthy Communities.”
The Clean Contents Service Team from Daedo Elementary School in Seoul took home the Prize from the Korea Broadcasting and Communication Commission in recognition of its “Protecting Clean Contents with Choruses” Project.
In addition, the Prize of the Gyeonggi Province Governor went to Jo Gyeong-rae of the Korea IT Convergence Technology Institute while Lee Mi-yeong of Seo Daejeon High School and Han Seung-bae of Seongji High School received the Prize from the Gyeonggi Provincial Superintendent of Education; Other prizes given included prizes from university presidents, the Prize from the Director of the Korea Internet Security Agency, and the Prize from the Chairman of the Clean Contents Movement Headquarters.
“We pushed for the UCC and Clean Smart Service Team Activity Contest as we thought that this event would contribute to creating a positive Internet culture and a desirable smart world in the era of the smart mobile revolution,” said Yang Jae-su, professor of Dankook University and secretary general of the Smart-Gyeonggi Forum.
